Ahhh, that's a pretty flimsy basis for a diary, but OK.  Whatever gets the job done for you.  I'm not important enough to know "high ranking officials," but I've worked on presidential campaigns before.  This is the first time I've ever heard of someone "promising" multiple people the VP spot months before such a decision would actually be made.  So forgive me if I'm more than a bit skeptical.

More substantively, all of the individuals you named would make fantastic VP choices.  So I'm actually encouraged by that.

Owl, Tell the evidence requesters to look up where the sun don't shine.  Nobody expects Obama to tell us who he is offering the VP to.

Well someone high up in the party told me that this was a complete lie.  Another high up told me that AL Gore is ACTUALLY a robot.  Other high ups swear Hillary is a lesbian, while others say Obama is secretly a muslim extremist.

Without sources, without proof statements LIKE all of the above are just stupid.  Name your "high up" source, provide proof or stop your lying.

If Obama DID offer it to a few candidates, even at the same time, he's hardly the first politician to do so.  It sounds like a trial balloon to me; start a rumour that you're offering the Veep to Whoever, and see what comes back.  

Is it disingenuous to ask people to compete for a job.  They could have said "no".  And sorry, your hearsay doesn't count as evidence.
